It’s the Ken-Ducky Derby! (and an auto show!)

Rubber ducks “race” down the Ohio River.

Twenty-two years ago, an idea was hatched. Since Kentuckians race everything during the Kentucky Derby Festival, why not race rubber ducks? And a new event because a favorite of the Festival. Supporting Harbor House, a community organization that supports empowering individuals with disabilities and their families with the goal of helping them to enrich their lives and foster a sense of community.

Over 46,000 rubber ducks get dumped into the Ohio River. There can only be one winner!
Maria Smith, CEO of Harbor House, assists the ducks as they didn’t want to race this year.

Of course, with a race, there can be only one winner, well, in this case, five. The person who bought the first-place duck won a new Toyota Corolla. Second and third place received cash prizes.

Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg holds up the grand prize-winning duck.

Oh, and there was a car show! In its third year, Cars & Coffee Car Show Presented by Mecum Auctions brings in amazing cars for people to see and exotic cars, imports, and muscle cars. After a viewing and judging period, winners would be declared for:

  1. Best of Show
  2. Best American Muscle
  3. Best Euro/German/Import
