Weather in Kentuckiana in the spring can be quite random. For a week long event you know weather is going to impact a couple of events. The weathermen were threatening rain to show up just in time for the 60th Pegasus Parade on Thursady and sure enough, as the spectators arrived and the parade entries started rolling, a good, solid shower was raining down on Broadway.
But the rains ended and the sun shined in time for the large inflatable Pegasus balloon to float magically down the parade route to the thrill of young and old alike. Besides hugely popular inflatables, bands and fire trucks, perhaps the showcase was the hometown heroes, which included Louisville sports stars like NFL Hall of Famer Paul Hornig to Mary T. Meigher, famed Olympic swimmer.
No Pegasus Parade would be complete without multiple equestrian teams riding to the delight of the crowd. The parade lasted nearly three hours.
